Stand Up Paddle surfing, or Hoe he'e nalu, is one of the fastest growing water sports with a Hawaiian heritage. Started in the 60’s by the Waikiki Beach Boys, the “beach boys” would stand on long boards, with outrigger paddles and paddle out to take photos of people learning how to surf. Fast forward 30+ years, surfers now use the sport of stand-up paddle to train while the surf is down.
Come and learn how to stand-up paddle with Ty Gurney Surf School! Once you are standing on your board you’ll cruise the waters of Hawaii, enjoying the amazing sights of the island from the sea. Instructors can also teach you to catch and ride waves. This is a fun activity for first timers and advanced students, it is also a great core and cross training workout with minimal effort!
